Meet Misty Romero, Founder and Master Educator of Imagine Nation Academy

As a neurodivergent educator, Misty Romero brings a unique perspective to the classroom. With a deep understanding of the importance of empathy and support, Misty has dedicated her career to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that allows every child to thrive, especially children who learn better, “thinking outside the box.”

With experience teaching every elementary school grade level, theatre arts, and reimagining the Science program for LA's top WASC Accredited school, Misty's expertise is rooted in her ability to connect with each child on their own terms. Her STEM Academy, Science Adventures, established in 2007, has been a testament to her innovative approach to education eventually paving the path for Imagine Nation Academy.

Misty's passion for teaching is matched only by her passion for the natural world. An avid hiker and explorer, Misty finds inspiration in the beauty of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding wilderness. Her love of geology, flora, fauna, and the environment is woven throughout her curriculum, inspiring a sense of wonder and awe in her students.

As a recipient of a prestigious travel grant fellowship, Misty embarked on an extraordinary journey to Costa Rica, where she immersed herself in the country's vibrant culture, stunning natural beauty, and incredible biodiversity. Upon her return, she shared her experiences and insights with Southern California independent schools, inspiring educators and students alike with her tales of adventure and discovery.

As a sought-after presenter, Misty has also shared her expertise at the prestigious NSTA conference in New Orleans, empowering fellow educators to adopt interdisciplinary approaches to teaching. Her creative force extends beyond the classroom, with several children's books in production that reflect her love for storytelling, art, and science.

At Imagine Nation Academy, Misty's vision is to create a transformative educational experience that nurtures the whole child. By embracing each child's unique strengths, challenges, and learning style, Misty fosters a sense of belonging, creativity, and joy that extends far beyond the classroom walls.

When she's not teaching or writing, you can find Misty in the kitchen, whipping up culinary creations that blend her passions for cooking, art, and science. Or, more likely, you'll find her on a hike with her husband, pups and camera, exploring the beauty of the natural world and finding inspiration for her next lesson.
